In Memory of each of our members who passes away, the MVMA donates toward the purchase of a book for the Veterinary Medical Library at the University of MN to commemorate their career and honor their life.

Personal memorial contributions can also be made to the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation in honor of a family member, friend or colleauge. A recognition letter is sent to the honored's family.

2011 Memorial Updates

Ralph G. Molnau, DVM, Age 82, of Waconia, passed away on January 16, 2011. Ralph was the current owner of Countryside Veterinarian and Feed in Young America, and the previous owner of Waconia Veterinary Clinic. He was a member of the West Carver Rotary Club; and served as board member and president of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, as well as being named the MVMA veterinarian of the year in 1992.

A past member of the board of directors at Klein Bank, he served on the Waconia City Planning Board from 1958-1988. In his younger days, Ralph was the captain of the Chaska football and basketball teams of 1946.

Ralph truly loved farming, raising sheep, and spending time in his garden. He was always learning new things, had a thirst for knowledge, and was a history buff.

Ralph is survived by his loving family: wife Mary; sisters-in-law Mildred Molnau of Howard Lake, and Margaret Molnau of Red Wing; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Thursday Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Phil Wagner officiating. There was visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Chaska.

Dr. Warren Hartman, age 79, of Wadena, MN passed away on Feb. 9th 2011. Memorial services were held on Sat., Feb. 26th at 2:00 PM in the 1st Congregational Church in Wadena.

He is survived by wife Carolyn; sons Karl (Vivian) of Red Wing & James of Wadena; daughter Laurie (John) Costello of Painted Post, NY. Dr. Hartman operated the Southbrook Veterinary Hospital in Wadena for many years.

He was an active member of his community including being a member of the Minn. Harness Racing, Inc. Life member of the Minn. Veterinary Medical Assoc. Past school board chairman of district 819 in Wadena. Past president and board member of the Central Minn. Boy Scout Council. Memorials are preferred to Wadena County Humane Society, Central Minn. Boy Scout Council or the Wadena Area Community Band.
