Dr. Bill Hartmann and the Board of Animal Health have been instrumental in helping develop national policy on managing H1N1 in swine populations that has since been adopted as policy of the USDA, as well as providing vital leadership during the recent H1N1 outbreak a few years ago in this state.  Probably most notable is Dr. Hartmann’s and the Board’s management and leadership through the Bovine Tuberculosis crisis in Minnesota.  After several years of working with affected bovine herds in this state, just this last fall the Board was successful in gaining Bovine TB free status by the USDA.  Dr. Hartmann is an outstanding representative and advocate for the veterinary profession through his frequent speaking engagements throughout the state and nationally as Minnesota’s state veterinarian.
